Ameraucana
The Ameraucana was developed in the United States in the 1970s from Araucana chickens brought from Chile. It was bred to retain the unusual blue-egg gene of the Araucana, but eliminate the tufted and rumplesslethal alleles of the parent breed. It was added to the Standard of Perfection of the American Poultry Association in 1984. The name derives from "America" and "Araucana"

BIRDS FOR SALE
From heritage chickens, to peafowl, to guineafowl, the Leaman Exchange sells quality birds.
Spangled Russian Orloffs
The Livestock Conservatory currently has these animals listed as critically endangered, being one of the rarest birds in the west. Their name orginates from Alexei Grigoryevich Orlov, who was a Russian Count. However, these birds were first created in Persia and then distributed to Europe and Asia in the 17th Century.
The Orloff is a tall, well-feathered chicken with a somewhat game-like appearance. The head and neck are very thickly feathered putting it into the rare soft feather:heavy category of the Poultry Club of Great Britian. They appear in several recognized color varieties: Black, White, Spangled, Black-tailed Red, Mahogany, and Cuckoo. Their plumage, combined with their tiny walnut comb, small earlobes and minusculewattles, makes the Orloff a very cold hardy breed.
With incredibly calm personalities, a beautiful plumage and Canada cold ready bodies, we love these birds!
Frizzles
The Frizzle is a breed of chicken with characteristic curled or frizzled plumage which grows outward from the body instead of smooth like other birds. While the frizzle gene can be seen in many breeds, such as the Pekin and Polish, the Frizzle is recognised as a distinct breed. The frizzle gene is thought to have originated in Asia; frizzled chickens have been reported from the Far East since the eighteenth century.
We are currently selling out Frizzle chicks for $12. If you are interested in buying a chick please click the contact button below.
